16-Year-Old Dies After Caesarea Plane Crash on Lake Scugog

A 16-year-old male died on July 18, 2025, after a small plane crashed into Lake Scugog in the Caesarea area, according to Durham Regional Police. Police stated the incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. near Williams Point Road.

Police report that the plane collided with a dock and another boat before flipping over. The pilot and a passenger were able to leave the aircraft with minor injuries. The 16-year-old, who was on the dock at the time, was struck by the plane and pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. Durham Regional Police stated that officers from their North Division, along with members of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, remain at the scene and are continuing the investigation.

Durham Regional Police are asking anyone with information to contact A/D/Sgt. Naccarato of the North Division Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, and according to police, tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
