28-Year-Old Man Charged After Fleeing Police in Oshawa
A 28-year-old man was arrested in Oshawa after fleeing police on Saturday, July 12, 2025, according to Durham Regional Police Service.
Police responded at about 9:00 a.m. to a report of a person slumped behind the wheel in the area of Wilson Road South and Dean Avenue. Officers located the suspect vehicle driving westbound on Dean Avenue and attempted a traffic stop, police said.
According to police, the driver fled from officers and collided with an unoccupied vehicle near Brest Court and Sedan Crescent. The driver then exited the vehicle and ran away on foot. Police reported that officers found the suspect a short distance away and took him into custody.
Durham Regional Police identified the individual as Jeff Avery, age 28, with no fixed address. Police stated that Avery was charged with dangerous operation, failing to stop for police, driving while suspended, and leaving the accident scene or failing to give his name. Police said he was held for a bail hearing.
Police noted that the allegations against Avery have not been proven in court.
