A 69-year-old man was critically injured in a collision involving an e-bike and a motor vehicle in Oshawa on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

The collision is of local concern due to the severity of the injuries and the involvement of both an e-bike and a motor vehicle on a major roadway. Police said it occurred around 7:00 a.m. just south of Marland Avenue at Park Road South, when both vehicles were travelling northbound.

Police said the e-bike rider was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remained in critical condition. Police also said the motor vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and closed the affected section of roadway for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. Police indicated that the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked by police to contact Detective Constable Vander Duim of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch. Police also noted that anonymous tips can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
