Ajax Man Faces Additional Charges in Sexual Assault Investigation Involving Two Teens

Durham Regional Police have arrested a 30-year-old Ajax man on additional sex-related charges following an investigation that began earlier this month. Police allege the man was initially charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement of a 14-year-old and that subsequent investigation identified a second 14-year-old girl involved.

Police reported that the suspect was arrested on May 2, 2025, in relation to the first case. According to a statement released on May 30, 2025, officers from the Tactical Support Unit and Offender Management Unit executed a warrant at a residence in Ajax on May 29, taking the suspect into custody without incident.

Durham Regional Police identified the suspect as Gowryshankar Kathirkamanathan, age 30, of Ajax. He is now facing several charges: sexual assault, sexual interference, assault, invitation to sexual touching, making child pornography, and possessing child pornography. Police stated that he was held for a bail hearing.
