ATM Stolen from Bank of Montreal in Whitby; Police Seek Information

Police are searching for suspects after an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) was taken from the Bank of Montreal on Baldwin Street South in Whitby on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, according to Durham Regional Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. when officers from the Central West Division responded to an alarm at 5530 Baldwin Street South. Police report that suspects used an excavator to break through the front entrance of the bank, removed an ATM from inside the building, and left the area in a dark-coloured vehicle before officers arrived.

Durham Regional Police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident, including cell phone or dash-cam footage from the area of Baldwin Street South and Roybrook Avenue around the time of the theft, to contact Detective Constable Wheaton of the Central West Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2428. Police add that anonymous tips can be provided to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca. According to police, tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 from Crime Stoppers.
