Bowmanville Carjacking and Home Invasion Leads to Charges Against Two Toronto Males

Two males from Toronto have been charged following a carjacking and home invasion in Bowmanville on September 10, 2025, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

Police said officers responded at about 9:15 p.m. to a report of a home invasion in the area of Maple Grove Road and Nash Road. According to DRPS, a suspect entered the garage of a residence, threatened the victim with a knife, and demanded her vehicle. The victim dropped her keys and ran into the house calling for help. Her husband came to her aid, and both were chased by the suspect into the residence. Police said the victims were able to close the door on the suspect, who then fled in the victim’s vehicle before police arrived. A second suspect left in another vehicle.

DRPS reported that its Air1 police helicopter located the stolen vehicle and the getaway vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 401. Air1 followed both vehicles to a parking lot in the area of McNicoll Avenue and Mogul Drive in North York. Police stated that members of the DRPS Project Attire Auto Theft Unit blocked the vehicle and arrested both suspects. No physical injuries were reported, according to police.

The two individuals charged have been identified by police as Muhammad Rahman, 21, of Toronto, and a 16-year-old male from Toronto. DRPS said both face several charges, including robbery with an offensive weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts), dangerous operation of a conveyance, break and enter, and disguise with intent. Both were held for a bail hearing.

Police also released video footage of the arrest captured by Air1. DRPS noted that the voice in the video belongs to a tactical flight officer in training from Peel Regional Police, who is a member of the Joint Air Support Unit.

DRPS stated that the information provided comes from its investigation and all allegations have yet to be proven in court.
