Bowmanville Rotary Street Eats Festival Planned for June 28-29
The Bowmanville Rotary Club will host its first Street Eats Festival at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreational Complex, 2440 Regional Hwy 2 in Bowmanville. The festival takes place on Saturday, June 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sunday, June 29, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is $2 per person, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
The event will include food trucks from across the region, serving Mexican, Middle Eastern, Greek, Canadian, and other types of food. There will be activities such as live local music, face-painting, clowning, balloons, games, and a scheduled appearance by a performer dressed as Spiderman. Beer will be available for purchase in the beverage tent, supplied by Brock Street Brewery of Durham Region.
According to club president Doug Sirrs, the festival is intended to bring community members together and raise funds for the Rotary Club’s projects. Event organizer Laurie Suikki described the festival as a fundraiser to support both local and international Rotary activities.
The Bowmanville Rotary Club runs programs like Family Respite Care and the Watershed Cleanup in the local area, and contributes to international efforts related to maternal and child health, water, sanitation, hygiene, and polio eradication. The club is part of a network of over 46,000 Rotary clubs worldwide.
