Building on Scugog Street in Port Perry Damaged in Early-Morning Collision
A building on Scugog Street in Port Perry sustained significant damage after a single vehicle collision early Saturday morning. According to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), the incident occurred on June 28, 2025, at approximately 6:45 a.m. when a 63-year-old man driving a grey Toyota Sienna van lost control of his vehicle after experiencing a medical episode, resulting in the van striking a commercial building at 1869 Scugog Street.
Police stated the collision caused around $100,000 in damage to the structure. Emergency responders from the DRPS North Division and members of the Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene due to the extent of the structural damage.
The DRPS announced that the investigation remains ongoing as of June 30, 2025. Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Constable Hoevenaars of the Traffic Services Branch. DRPS also noted that anonymous tips can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
