Canada Post labour disruption affects all Durham Region mail, including OW cheques and bills

All incoming and outgoing mail connected to the Regional Municipality of Durham is affected by a Canada Post labour disruption, including municipal notices and Ontario Works (OW) cheques and bills. Residents are directed to the Region’s Service Impacts webpage for details.

The Regional Municipality of Durham posted the advisory on its website under the heading “Canada Post strike,” citing a labour disruption at Canada Post as the cause. The scope identified by the Region includes items mailed as part of municipal services and OW payments.

“We would like to notify residents that all incoming and outgoing mail is affected by a labour disruption at Canada Post. This includes notices and Ontario Works (OW) cheques and bills,” the notice states.

The notice does not state when the disruption began, how long it may last, or whether alternate arrangements are in place for items identified as affected. Beyond noting the Canada Post labour disruption, the advisory offers no operational details about Canada Post services, such as delivery or pickup status.

The Region’s web page links to its Service Impacts page for updates related to municipal programs and services.
