Certain pistachios sold in Vancouver recalled due to possible Salmonella, CFIA says

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on Oct. 17 for certain pistachio products sold in Vancouver due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall follows CFIA test results and applies to products distributed in British Columbia.

The CFIA advises consumers and retailers not to consume, serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled products. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. Young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious infection.

Affected products include Pistachio In-Shell Lime & Saffron (no label applied) in variable sizes. These were sold from Sept. 5 to 19, 2025, and were distributed by Kowsar Holding Ltd., 938 Nelson St., Vancouver. No UPC was provided.

Also recalled is Persian Style Pistachio with Saffron in variable sizes. Items identified with PLU #7081 were sold at Lena Market, 2344 W 4th Ave, Vancouver, from Aug. 28 to Oct. 11, 2025. Items identified with PLU #7080 were sold at Aria Market, 837 Bidwell Street, Vancouver, during the same period. No UPCs were provided for these items.

Recalled firms are Premier Nuts Enterprise Ltd., Aria Market and Lena Market. The CFIA notes each company is responsible for some, but not necessarily all, of the recalled products listed.

No illnesses had been reported as of Oct. 17, according to the CFIA. A food-safety investigation is underway that may lead to additional recalls, and the agency is verifying that industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace.

The recall is classified as Class 2. The identification number is RA-78317. The original publish date is Oct. 17, 2025. The recall category is Food — Nuts, grains and seeds. The listed distribution area is British Columbia.
