CFIA issues Class 2 recall for Chungjungwon Sunchang Ssamjang over undeclared peanut

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a Class 2 food recall notification dated Sept. 22, 2026, for Chungjungwon brand Sunchang Ssamjang (seasoned bean paste) in 14-kilogram containers because peanut is not declared on the label for some product distributed in Ontario and New Brunswick.

The notice is directed at hotels, restaurants and institutions that may have the product in kitchens or storage, where it could be used in meal preparation or service.

The affected item is listed as Chungjungwon (Korean characters only) Sunchang Ssamjang (seasoned bean paste), sold in a 14 kg size with UPC 8 801052 773261, according to the CFIA.

The agency said the notification applies to “all codes where peanut is not declared on the label.”

Businesses and institutions should not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product, the CFIA said.

International Produce Trading Inc. is listed as the recalling firm. The CFIA identification number for the recall is RA-82663.

The CFIA’s notice was last updated Sept. 23, 2026.
