CFIA issues Class 2 recall for pistachio desserts sold at Toronto Ladurée stores over Salmonella risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 food recall warning on Oct. 31, 2025, for two pistachio desserts sold at Ladurée stores in Toronto due to possible Salmonella contamination. Distribution is listed as Ontario and online.

The products were clerk-served with no UPCs and were sold over multiple months. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious infection.

Pistachio pain au chocolat was sold as a single clerk‑served unit with no UPC from May 20, 2025, through Oct. 28, 2025. It was available at Ladurée Yorkville (162 Cumberland St., Toronto, ON), Ladurée Yorkdale (246‑3401 Dufferin St., Toronto, ON) and Ladurée Exchange Tower: The PATH, Exchange Tower, 130 King St. W, Toronto, ON.

St‑Honoré pistachio was sold as an individual dessert or as a larger cake, clerk‑served with no UPC, from Sept. 17, 2025, through Oct. 28, 2025, at Ladurée Yorkdale (246‑3401 Dufferin St., Toronto).

The CFIA advises people to check whether they have the recalled products and not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute them. The agency further advises that recalled items should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase, and that anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming a recalled product should contact a healthcare provider.

According to CFIA, healthy people may experience short‑term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long‑term complications may include severe arthritis.

The recall is linked to an ongoing investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating the associated outbreak of human illness.

The recalling firm is MXM Enterprises Inc. / Ladurée Canada. The notice is identified as RA‑78419 (CFIA ID 16869) and was published Oct. 31, 2025. CFIA is conducting a food‑safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls and is verifying that industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace.
