CFIA issues Class 2 recall in Ontario for Rico’s sauces and lasagnas over undeclared mustard

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 recall in Ontario for several Rico’s brand sauces and lasagnas and two unbranded items because they may contain mustard that is not declared on the label. Good Old Dad Food Products Inc. is the recalling firm. The recall is dated Oct. 9, 2025, and the notice was last updated Oct. 14, 2025. The agency advised consumers and businesses not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products.

The alert applies to retail stores and to hotels, restaurants and institutions in Ontario. The CFIA classifies the alert as a Notification in the Food – Multiple food items category. The recall carries identification number RA-78285 (CFIA ID 16817).

The following products are affected:

  • Rico’s Meat & 4 Cheese Lasagna, 2.5 kg, UPC 7 73866 04225 4, all codes where mustard is not declared on the label.
  • Rico’s Meat & Vegetable Bolognese Sauce, 600 ml, UPC 7 73866 04375 6, all codes where mustard is not declared on the label.
  • Rico’s Tomato Sauce, 600 ml, UPC 7 73866 04370 1, all codes where mustard is not declared on the label.
  • Lasagna Meat & 4 Cheese (no brand listed), 5.1 kg, UPC 10773866050003, all codes where mustard is not declared on the label.
  • Bolognese Sauce Homestyle (no brand listed), 9 L, UPC 10773866602004, all codes where mustard is not declared on the label.

The CFIA lists the issue as Food – Allergen – Mustard.
