CFIA issues Class 2 recall of 18 kg Al-Ghazal tahini in Ontario for Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a Class 2 recall of Al-Ghazal brand tahini due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall covers 18 kg containers distributed in Ontario and was published September 24, 2025. The recalling firm is Mawasem Trading Inc., doing business as Naz’s Falafel House Inc.

The CFIA advised that the affected product should not be used, sold, served, or distributed. The agency lists the intended audience as hotels, restaurants and institutions. Distribution is limited to Ontario, according to the notice.

The affected product is Al-Ghazal brand tahini in 18 kg containers with UPC 6 224002 971050 and the following codes: PRO: 22/4/2025; EXP: 21/9/2026; B.N/547E4.

The CFIA lists the alert type as “Notification” and the category as “Food – Condiments.” The recall identification number is RA-78115, and the CFIA internal ID is 16763.

The notice states it was last updated on September 24, 2025. It does not mention any illnesses, laboratory findings, or distribution outside Ontario.
