CFIA issues Class 2 recall of Arnie’s bulk nut mixes in Barrie, Brampton and Vaughan due to possible Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 food recall warning on Dec. 19 for Arnie’s All Ntrl Raw Mx Nuts and Arnie’s Sweet & Savoury Mix sold in bulk in Barrie, Brampton and Vaughan due to possible Salmonella contamination. Loblaw Companies Limited is the recalling firm, and distribution is listed as Ontario.

The products were sold from Nov. 1 to Dec. 2, 2025, in variable quantities from bulk bins. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems can face serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

Arnie’s All Ntrl Raw Mx Nuts (PLU# 57383) was sold at Zehr Bayfield, 472 Bayfield Street, Barrie, and at Fortinos Highway 7 & Brisbale, 35 Worthington Avenue, Brampton. Arnie’s Sweet & Savoury Mix (PLU# 71450) was sold at Fortinos Major Mackenzie, 2911 Major Mackenzie Drive, Vaughan.

The CFIA advises people not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products. The agency also advises checking for the items and throwing them out or returning them to the place of purchase. Anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming a recalled product should contact a healthcare provider, the CFIA says.

The recall was triggered by CFIA inspection activities. As of Dec. 19, the agency reports no illnesses associated with these products. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products and is verifying that industry is removing the recalled items from the marketplace. The recall is identified as RA-81383 (CFIA ID 17124).
