CFIA issues Class 2 recall of Baekdu Peak Enoki Mushrooms for possible Listeria
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 recall on Nov. 17, 2025, for Baekdu Peak brand Enoki Mushroom due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The product was distributed in Alberta and British Columbia. The recall followed CFIA test results.
Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. According to the agency, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems face higher risk.
No illnesses have been reported. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products and is verifying that industry is removing recalled items from the marketplace.
The affected product is Baekdu Peak Enoki Mushroom (200 g) bearing UPC 9 90016 90034 3 and code 2025/12/25. The recalling firm is Goldenway Import & Export Ltd. The alert is categorized as a Food Recall Warning, Class 2, under identification number RA-81232, and was originally published Nov. 17, 2025.
The CFIA advises consumers to check for the recalled product and not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute it. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location of purchase. Anyone who thinks they became ill after consuming the product should contact a healthcare provider.
