CFIA issues Class 2 recall of certain Your Fresh Market broccoli florets over possible Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on November 28 for certain Your Fresh Market brand broccoli florets due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall applies to 907 g packages (UPC 6 27735 27054 8) with code “BBD 2025-NO-26; Lot# 25318,” distributed in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. No illnesses have been reported.

Salmonella contamination may not be visible or detectable by smell. Older adults, young children, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems face higher risk of severe infection. Healthy people can experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea; long-term complications can include severe arthritis.

Fresh Taste Produce Ltd. is recalling the product. The alert is classified as a Class 2 Food Recall Warning under “Food – Fruits and vegetables – Fresh,” with identification number RA-81302.

The CFIA advises consumers to check for the recalled product and not to consume, serve, use, sell or distribute it. Recalled items should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. The CFIA also advises anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming a recalled product to contact their healthcare provider.

The recall was triggered by CFIA inspection activities. The agency is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products and is verifying that industry is removing the recalled product from the marketplace.
