CFIA issues Class 2 recall of Handi Green Pista Kernal 100 g for possible Salmonella
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 food recall warning on Oct. 22 for Handi brand Green Pista Kernal 100 g (UPC 6 67064 00704 0) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The product was distributed in Alberta, and no illnesses have been reported.
The agency advises that Salmonella may not change a product’s look or smell. It says young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems face higher risks of serious infection. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms including fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

The recalling firm is Super Asia Wholesale Distributors Ltd. of Calgary, AB. The alert is categorized as Food – Nuts, grains, and seeds, identified as RA-78353, and was published Oct. 22, 2025, with the same date for the last update.
CFIA test results triggered the recall. The agency is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls and is verifying that industry is removing the product from the marketplace.
The CFIA advises consumers to:
- Check to see if you have recalled products
- Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products
- Throw out the product or return it to the place of purchase
- Contact a healthcare provider if you think you became sick after consuming the product
