CFIA issues national recall of certain Pillsbury Pizza Pops for possible E. coli O26
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a national food recall warning on Dec. 21 for certain Pillsbury brand Pizza Pops Pepperoni + Bacon products because of possible E. coli O26 contamination. General Mills Canada Corporation is recalling the items, and the CFIA said illnesses have been reported in connection with the products.
The CFIA advised consumers not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products. The agency directed people to check labels and either throw the items out or return them to the place of purchase. Food contaminated with E. coli O26 may not look or smell spoiled but can still make people sick, the CFIA said.
Affected products, as listed by the CFIA, are:
- Pillsbury Pizza Pops Pepperoni + Bacon, 30 pizza snacks (2.85 kg), UPC 0 69052 12961 9, Better If Used By 09JN2026WN; 10JN2026WN
- Pillsbury Pizza Pops Supremo Extreme Pepperoni + Bacon, 30 pizza snacks (3 kg), UPC 0 69052 46901 2, Better If Used By 10JN2026WN; 11JN2026WN; 12JN2026WN

According to the CFIA, symptoms of E. coli O26 can include nausea, vomiting, mild to severe abdominal cramps, and watery to bloody diarrhea. In severe cases, some people may have seizures or strokes, need blood transfusions and kidney dialysis, or face permanent kidney damage; deaths can occur in severe cases. The CFIA advised that anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming a recalled product should contact a healthcare provider.
The agency said the recall was triggered by findings during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls and is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.
The products were distributed nationally, according to the notice. The recall is classified as a Class 1 event. The alert’s identification number is RA-81390 (CFIA ID 17102). The notice was published Dec. 21, 2025, and listed as last updated the same day.
