CFIA issues Sept. 26 warning for Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime over undeclared milk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food safety warning on Sept. 26, 2026 for Smarter Snacks brand Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored (50 g) after milk was found in the product but not declared on the label. The product was distributed nationally and sold online.

The warning applies to people with a milk allergy or sensitivity. For those individuals, consuming the product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.

The affected product is Smarter Snacks brand Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored in a 50 g package. The UPC is 8 684041 306837. The codes listed in the alert are 05/05/2026 and SS 125 L1.

CFIA said the product should not be served, used, sold or distributed.

CFIA test results triggered the warning. CFIA said no reactions have been reported in connection with consumption of the product.

The agency said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of this or other products. The warning is classified as Class 1 and carries identification number RA-82689.
