CFIA Recalls Andalos Pastry Products Over Possible Salmonella Contamination in Ontario and Other Provinces

A recall of Andalos brand pastry products was announced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on August 7, 2025, due to possible Salmonella contamination. According to the CFIA, these products have been distributed in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and through online sales.

The CFIA warns that food contaminated with Salmonella may not show any signs of spoilage but can still lead to illness. The agency notes that older adults, pregnant women, young children, and people with weakened immune systems are at increased risk of serious infection. Potential symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.

The recalled products are as follows:

  • Baklavas Rectangles (Andalos brand, 48 pieces, UPC 7 74005 00520 8) with codes: 17725, 17825, 18125, 18425, 19025, 19125, 19525, 19725, 19825

    • Qatayef (small)
    • Znoud El Sett

The CFIA states that the recall was prompted by findings from its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The Public Health Agency of Canada is also investigating a related outbreak of human illness.

The CFIA advises that recalled products should not be consumed, served, used, sold, or distributed. They further advise that these products should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. The agency is overseeing the removal of these products from the marketplace and may update the recall if additional products are identified.
