CFIA Recalls Daesang Gochujang Sold in Ontario Over Undeclared Wheat

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced a recall on September 18, 2025, for Daesang brand Gochujang (Spicy Red Pepper Paste) distributed in Ontario. The recall is issued due to the presence of undeclared wheat as an allergen.

According to the CFIA, consumers with wheat allergies or sensitivities could be at risk because the affected product may contain wheat that is not listed on the ingredient label.

The recalled product is identified as Daesang Gochujang (Spicy Red Pepper Paste) in 500 g containers, carrying the UPC 8 80 1052 802022. The recall affects all codes for this product where wheat is not declared on the label, according to the notice.

Korea Food Trading Ltd. is named as the recalling firm by the CFIA. The notice lists this as a Class 2 recall. The recalled product was distributed in Ontario.

The CFIA advised that the product in question should not be used, sold, served, or distributed. The recall notification number is RA-78098.
