CFIA recalls Indian Punjabi Bazaar Green Pistachios over possible Salmonella; sold at Brampton store, distributed in Ontario

On Sept. 29, 2025, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a Class 2 food recall warning for Indian Punjabi Bazaar brand Green Pistachios (200 g; UPC 0 201540 307486; code “Packed on Aug/13/25”) due to possible Salmonella. The product was sold at Indian Punjabi Bazaar, 499 Ray Lawson Blvd., Units 4–10, in Brampton, and distributed in Ontario.

CFIA advises people not to consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute the recalled pistachios; recalled items should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. The agency also advises anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming the product to contact a healthcare provider. Salmonella contamination may not be visible but can cause serious illness, particularly for older adults, pregnant women, young children, and people with weakened immune systems.

The recall is linked to an ongoing investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating an outbreak of human illness related to this matter.

The recalling firm is Indian Punjabi Bazaar. The recall is listed as RA-78154 in the Food – Nuts, grains, and seeds category.

CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls and is verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.

Common symptoms of Salmonella infection include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
