CFIA recalls Mount Kumgang Enoki Mushroom over possible Listeria risk
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on Nov. 7, 2025, for Mount Kumgang brand Enoki Mushroom (200 g) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall, initiated by Grand International Import & Export Inc., involves products distributed in Alberta and British Columbia and is classified as a Class 2 recall.
The CFIA says Listeria infection can cause serious illness, with higher risk to pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. The agency reports no illnesses to date and says its test results triggered the recall.
The affected product is Mount Kumgang Enoki Mushroom, 200 g, UPC 6 289427 793434, code 2514080929.
The CFIA advises consumers and retailers not to consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute the recalled product. The agency also advises people to check for the product at home and to throw it out or return it to the place of purchase. Anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming the product should contact a healthcare provider, according to the CFIA.
The CFIA notes that food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled. The CFIA says symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the agency says infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or stillbirth. In severe cases, illness can be fatal.
The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products and is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.
Administrative details listed by the agency include recall identification number RA-78471, alert type “Food recall warning,” category “Food – Fruits and vegetables – Fresh,” and the original publication date of Nov. 7, 2025.
