CFIA recalls Nishel Foods Pork Neck Bone Soup for undeclared wheat; distributed in four western provinces

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 1 recall on Oct. 17, 2025 for Nishel Foods Pork Neck Bone Soup because wheat is not declared on the label. The product was distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Undeclared wheat and gluten can cause serious or life‑threatening reactions. The agency advised people with wheat allergies, celiac disease or other gluten‑related disorders not to consume the product.

The affected item is “Pork Bone Neck Soup” (Nishel Foods), 1 kg, UPC 6 27843 30541 5. All expiration dates up to and including 2026‑09‑18 are included where wheat is not declared on the label.

Nishel Butcher Shop Ltd. is the recalling firm. The recall was triggered by CFIA inspection activities. No reactions linked to the product had been reported at the time of the alert.

CFIA advised consumers to check for the recalled product, not to serve, use, sell or distribute it, and to throw it out or return it to the place of purchase.

CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products and is verifying that industry is removing the recalled item from the marketplace.
