CFIA recalls pistachio products sold in Ontario for possible Salmonella
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on Oct. 11, 2025, for several pistachio‑containing products due to possible Salmonella contamination. The items were sold online and in Ontario. The recall is linked to an ongoing foodborne illness investigation. The CFIA advises consumers not to consume, sell, serve, or distribute the products and to throw them out or return them.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness. Symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Long‑term complications may include severe arthritis. The CFIA advises anyone who thinks they became ill after consuming a recalled product to contact a healthcare provider.

- allo simonne Pistachio Matcha spread, 220 g, UPC 6 28347 31056 1, code 14-205-25, best before April 2027 (MA/BB 04/27).
- allo simonne Sour cherries & pistachios covered in chocolate, rose petals, 130 g, UPC 6 28347 31059 2, Lot 414-259-25, best before October 2026 (MA/BB 10/2026).
- Baklava (no UPC, variable size), sold from Sept. 18 through Oct. 11, 2025, at Fig and Feta Greek Eatery and Market, 61 Hurontario Street, Collingwood, ON.
- Baklava cheesecake (no UPC, variable size), sold from Sept. 18 through Oct. 11, 2025, at Fig and Feta Greek Eatery and Market, 61 Hurontario Street, Collingwood, ON.
The recall was triggered by CFIA findings during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating an outbreak of human illness related to this matter.
The CFIA says its food safety investigation may lead to the recall of other products. The agency is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.
This is a Class 2 food recall warning. The recalling firms are Parallel Geary Ltd., allo simonne, and Fig and Feta Greek Eatery and Market. The notice was published Oct. 11, 2025, under identification number RA-78286.
