CFIA recalls Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff (50 g) for undeclared milk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on Sept. 29, 2026, for Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored (50 g) because the product contains milk that is not declared on the label. The recalling firm is Empire Health Distribution Inc.

The CFIA says the undeclared milk could cause a serious or life-threatening reaction for people with a milk allergy or sensitivity. The agency said the product was distributed nationally and sold online.

The recall applies to Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored in a 50 g package with UPC 8 684041 306837. The CFIA listed the affected codes as 05/05/2026 (SS 125 L1) and 04/17/2026 (SS 107 L1).

According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by CFIA test results. The agency said there have been no reported reactions associated with consumption of the product.

The CFIA classified the recall as Class 1 (identification number RA-82687).

The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products. The agency also said it is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.

In its notice, the CFIA said people should check whether they have the recalled product and should not consume it if they are allergic or sensitive to milk. The CFIA also said the recalled product should not be served, used, sold, or distributed, and should be thrown out or returned to the location where it was purchased.
