CFIA Recalls Vicente Marino Anchovy Fillets Due to Histamine

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for Vicente Marino brand Anchovy Fillets in Olive Oil because of the presence of histamine. The recall, announced on July 3, 2025, covers products distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and possibly other provinces and territories.

According to the CFIA, there have been reported reactions associated with consuming the affected product. The recall includes Vicente Marino Anchovy Fillets in Olive Oil in 80-gram and 42-gram packages with UPC 80268215, lot number 24171, and expiry date of December 2025.

The recall was triggered by Pcan Inc., doing business as Cucina Fine Foods. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may result in other products being recalled if required. The CFIA states it is also verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.

This recall is classified as a Class 2 food recall warning and has reference number RA-77665. The CFIA advises consumers not to consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected items. The agency instructs that recalled products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. The CFIA also advises individuals who believe they became sick after consuming the recalled product to contact their healthcare provider.
