CFIA recalls Zhou Hei Ya wide vermicelli with sesame sauce due to undeclared shrimp

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a food recall warning on Aug. 13, 2026, for Zhou Hei Ya brand Wide Vermicelli with Sesame Sauce sold in Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan because it contains shrimp not declared on the label.

The CFIA identifies the issue as an undeclared crustacean and shellfish allergen. The agency says the product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction for people who are allergic or sensitive to crustaceans and shellfish.

The recalled product is Zhou Hei Ya (Chinese characters only) Wide Vermicelli with Sesame Sauce in a 248 g package.

The UPC is 6 978378 870324. The product codes are 2026/03/13 and 2026/10/12.

A consumer complaint triggered the recall, the CFIA says. The agency says one reaction has been reported in connection with consumption of the product.

J.L. Trading Co. Ltd. is the recalling firm.

The CFIA says it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products, and it is verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.

The recall identification number is RA-82481.

The CFIA advises consumers not to serve, use, sell or distribute the product, and to throw it out or return it to the location where it was purchased.
