Clarington Animal Shelter Expands Dog Run With Grant From Marilyn Neaves Foundation

Shelter dogs in Clarington now have twice the outdoor space following a $50,000 grant from the Marilyn Neaves Charitable Foundation Trust, according to the Municipality of Clarington. The expansion, completed this summer at the Clarington Animal Shelter, increased the dog run from one area to four outdoor zones and included the addition of shade canopies.

According to the Municipality, this project was made possible through external funding and was intended to upgrade the facility while reducing reliance on property tax revenues. Clarington officials noted that the funding helps support services for animals awaiting adoption.

Municipal officials, including Mayor Adrian Foster, Council Members, and staff, marked the completion of the project alongside a representative from the Marilyn Neaves Charitable Foundation Trust at the expanded dog run. According to the Municipality, shelter staff and municipal teams contributed to delivering the expansion.

The Municipality of Clarington stated that the animal shelter regularly seeks grants and donations to support operations, which can include facility upgrades, daily essentials, and veterinary care. No further upgrades beyond the expanded dog run and shade canopies were detailed in the announcement.

The Clarington Animal Shelter shares information about animals available for adoption on its website.
