Clarington Announces July 1 Canada Day Event at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex

The Municipality of Clarington announced a Canada Day event will take place on Tuesday, July 1, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, 2440 Highway 2 in Bowmanville. According to the Municipality, the event will feature live music, activities, and a fireworks display scheduled for 10 p.m., with the timing dependent on weather conditions.

The Municipality stated that all activities and performances are free of charge. Events are planned for residents of all ages throughout the evening.

According to the Municipality, Main Stage performances will include Matt O'Music Student Band Showcase, The Charles Street Band, City Soul, and Guinness World Records holder Brant the Fire Guy. Entertainment is also scheduled on the Kids’ Stage, featuring storytime, music, dance, and other activities.

The Municipality further listed activities such as a Kids’ Play Zone, bubble party, LEGO and hula hoop stations, an inflatable obstacle course, games, face painting, and henna art. Food and ice cream vendors, along with a local market, are expected at the event, according to the Municipality. The Municipality also indicated that a sensory-break area will be available for attendees seeking a quieter space.

Attendees may access free cake, cookies, glow sticks, prizes, and giveaways, while supplies last, according to the Municipality. The Municipality also noted additional entertainment, including roaming performers and other attractions, planned throughout the evening. The fireworks display is expected to start at 10 p.m., depending on weather, according to the Municipality.
