Clarington Approves Contracting Out of Snow Plow Routes
On January 6, 2020, the General Government Committee of Clarington discussed the contracting out of snow plow routes as outlined in Report OPD-001-20. The committee initially considered a motion to refer the report to the next Regular Council Meeting on January 20, 2020, but this motion was lost. Subsequently, a resolution was passed to receive the report and approve the purchase of two additional single axle combination plow trucks, which will be 90% funded through development charges. The committee directed staff to issue a tender for the provision of two pieces of equipment by November 1, 2020. Additionally, it was decided that more routes would be added to the contract each year as existing combination snow plow trucks reach the end of their service life and are scheduled for replacement.
