Clarington closes Waterfront Trail section between Bowmanville and Newcastle through Sept. 24, 2026

The Municipality of Clarington has temporarily closed a portion of the Waterfront Trail in Bowmanville and Newcastle for maintenance until the end of day Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, weather permitting. The closed section runs between Bennett Road in Bowmanville and Service Road in Newcastle.

The closure affects a stretch of the trail used to travel between the two communities, and it is expected to remain in place while maintenance work continues through Thursday.

Maintenance work is underway on the closed section, the municipality said in a notice posted Sept. 23.

Clarington did not specify what type of maintenance is being done.

Trail users can use alternate routes during the closure, the municipality said.
