Clarington curbside Christmas tree pickup on regular days during weeks of Jan. 5 and 12
Durham Region will collect natural Christmas trees at the curb in Clarington on residents’ regular collection days during the weeks of Jan. 5 and 12. Trees will be composted with leaf and yard waste, and winter weather may delay pickup.
The same two-week schedule on regular collection days applies in Ajax, Brock, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge. In Oshawa and Whitby, collection dates are set by those municipalities and listed in their municipal waste calendars and apps.
Set-out rules for natural trees include the following:
- Remove all tinsel, decorations, wire, plastic bags, bulbs, lights, tree skirts, nails and stands before collection.
- Set trees at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day, but no earlier than 7 p.m. the evening before.
- Do not set out trees in plastic bags; they will not be collected.
- Trees exceeding three metres (10 feet) must be cut in half for collection.
- Ensure trees are not buried in snowbanks or frozen to the ground; trees that are frozen to the ground or buried in snowbanks will not be collected.
- Do not place trees on top of or behind snowbanks. Make sure the tree is fully accessible for collection.
- There is no limit to the number of natural trees collected per household.
If collection is delayed by weather, leave your tree at the curb on your scheduled date.
Waste collection reminders and service alerts are available through the Durham Region Waste App and at durham.ca/Waste.
