Clarington designates three properties under Ontario Heritage Act; appeals due Sept. 24, 2026

Clarington council passed by-laws to designate three properties under the Ontario Heritage Act: 106 Beaver Street and 107 Beaver Street in Newcastle, and 3438 Green Road in Bowmanville. Appeals to the Ontario Land Tribunal must be filed by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2026.

Under the Ontario Heritage Act, designation is a legal status recognizing a property’s heritage value. In its notice, the Municipality of Clarington said the three properties were designated for their architectural and historical value.

Council approved the designations at its Aug. 19, 2026 meeting.

The by-laws were By-law 2026-085 for 106 Beaver Street in Newcastle, By-law 2026-086 for 107 Beaver Street in Newcastle, and By-law 2026-087 for 3438 Green Road in Bowmanville.

Appeals can address all or part of each by-law.
