Clarington Library Announces Spring 2025 Book Club in a Bag Kits

Clarington Library, Museums & Archives is introducing new Book Club in a Bag kits for spring 2025, adding a selection of fiction and nonfiction titles for group reading. The kits are expected to be available during the spring season, according to a notice posted on the library's website on May 21.

The Book Club in a Bag service is intended for local reading groups in Clarington. Each kit contains 12 to 13 copies of a single title, along with a discussion guide to assist book club conversations, as stated by the library.

The newly announced titles for spring 2025 are:

  • Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten: A memoir describing the author’s childhood and her path to becoming a public figure. (From NoveList Plus)
  • By Any Other Name by Jodi Picoult: A story following two women, one contemporary and one from the Elizabethan era, both aspiring to have their works heard on the stage. (From NoveList Plus)
  • A Calamity of Souls by David Baldacci: Set in Virginia in 1968, the novel depicts two attorneys working together to defend a Black man amid the civil rights movement. (From NoveList Plus)
  • The God of the Woods by Liz Moore: Focuses on a missing girl at a family-owned summer camp, with a connection to a previous family disappearance. (From NoveList Plus)
  • Held by Anne Michaels: Explores themes of love, loyalty, and the long-term effects of trauma across generations after World War II. (From NoveList Plus)
  • How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley: Features members of a senior citizens’ club and a daycare teaming up when the building that houses both is threatened with sale. (From NoveList Plus)
