Clarington library, Board of Trade partner to expand Curious Communities discount program

Clarington Library, Museums & Archives and the Clarington Board of Trade have formed a partnership aimed at expanding the library’s Curious Communities discount program, according to a Jan. 16 announcement posted by the library.

Curious Communities links a library card to discounts or promotions offered by participating businesses. For residents, the program is intended to provide a way to access offers from local shops and services by presenting a library card.

In its announcement, the library said the partnership is expected to expand Curious Communities to more participating businesses.

Bonnie Wrightman, executive director of the Clarington Board of Trade, said the board will encourage Clarington businesses to offer discounts or promotions to library cardholders through the program.

Curious Communities was recently shortlisted for the Minister’s Award for Innovation, part of the Ontario Public Library Service Awards, the library said.

A list of participating businesses is available on the library’s website at cplma.ca/CuriousCommunities.
