Clarington Mayor Marks National AccessAbility Week with Statement on Accessibility
Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster issued a statement on May 26 in recognition of National AccessAbility Week, acknowledging people with disabilities in the community and across Canada and referencing the municipality’s ongoing work on accessibility.
Foster’s remarks coincide with National AccessAbility Week, a time designated for recognizing the contributions of people with disabilities and reflecting on inclusion efforts.
In his statement, Foster said National AccessAbility Week is an opportunity for everyone to recognize and celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities. He said it is also a time to reflect on progress made toward inclusion, adding that work on accessibility is not finished.
Foster described accessibility as “not a destination but an ongoing journey that requires commitment, flexibility and a willingness to learn and adapt.” He stated that Clarington will continue building a community where everyone feels included and valued.
No new specific accessibility projects or initiatives were described in the statement.
