Clarington outlines what’s open and closed for Family Day on Feb. 16

Recreation centres in Clarington, Ont., will be open Monday, Feb. 16, for Family Day programming only, while the Municipal Administrative Centre, Hampton Operations Centre and the Clarington Animal Shelter will be closed.

The holiday schedule affects when residents can access some municipal buildings and how quickly certain requests are handled, with the municipality noting that urgent service issues will still be monitored.

The municipality’s Family Day programming at recreation centres is set to include free activities such as skating, swimming, fitness and sports.

Even with municipal offices closed, Municipal Law Enforcement Officers and Public Works staff will remain on duty to monitor and respond to urgent service requests and complaints, the Municipality of Clarington said in a Feb. 12 notice.

The municipality said concerns requiring immediate attention will be handled during scheduled hours, and non-urgent matters will be assessed Tuesday, Feb. 17.
