Clarington Requests Resident Input on Draft Waterfront Strategy

Clarington has asked residents to provide feedback on its draft vision and guiding principles for an updated waterfront strategy covering 34 kilometres along Lake Ontario. According to a notice published on Clarington’s website, the deadline for submitting feedback is July 28, 2025.

The municipality states that the updated strategy will guide lakefront planning for the next 30 years. It will focus on decisions related to recreation, public spaces, and environmental management, which may affect residents’ opportunities to access green space and the shoreline.

Clarington notes that the initiative builds on public consultation held in 2022 and input collected during the 2023 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan process. According to draft strategy materials, the renewed waterfront strategy prioritizes enhancing public access to green spaces and the lakefront, preserving the natural environment with attention to shoreline resilience and biodiversity, supporting growth with new parks and amenities, promoting year-round recreation and tourism, and recognizing the character of the waterfront communities along the shoreline.

The municipality states that residents who provide feedback by the July 28 deadline will be entered into a draw for a $250 VISA gift card. Details about the draft vision and guiding principles are available on Clarington’s website.
