Clarington Schedules Events for Recreation and Parks Month in June

Clarington is recognizing June as Recreation and Parks Month by hosting a range of free or low-cost activities, according to information published on the municipal website. The first event, Celebrate Sport Community Day, will take place at the Courtice Community Complex on June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The municipality states that the tradeshow-style event will provide information to residents about available programs, services, and products related to sports.

Other scheduled activities for the month include yoga sessions, Families in the Park events, and a Seniors’ Month Barbecue and Open House, as listed in Clarington’s Recreation and Parks Month Activity Schedule. The Orono Park Pool is set to open for the season on June 21 and 22, with public swimming available from noon to 4 p.m., according to municipal details.

Residents can join events throughout communities in Durham Region by participating in Recreation and Parks Month activities, the municipality notes. Each event offers the option to scan a QR code that allows attendees to track participation and enter draws for prizes, including a new bike.

According to the municipality, Recreation and Parks Month is intended to recognize the benefits of recreation, parks, and physical activity. Registration for summer programs opens June 11, with additional details available on the municipality’s website.
