Clarington sets Oct. 26, 2026 municipal election day; nomination period opens May 1

Clarington’s next municipal election will be held Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, with voting scheduled to take place over a six-day period from Oct. 20 to Oct. 26, the Municipality of Clarington says.

The municipality has also set out the key steps and deadlines for people who plan to run for Municipal Council or for school board trustee, including when nomination papers must be filed and what documents and fees are required.

According to the municipal notice, candidates must file their nomination papers with the municipal clerk at the Municipal Administrative Centre during regular business hours between May 1, 2026, and nomination day on Aug. 21, 2026. The municipality says the deadline on Aug. 21 is 2 p.m.

The municipality says people running for Municipal Council must submit nomination paperwork that includes endorsements from at least 25 qualified persons and must pay the required filing fee.

For school board trustee positions, the municipality directs prospective candidates to contact the appropriate school board for information about the duties and responsibilities of a trustee.

The notice was issued by Clarington Elections and dated April 30, 2026.
