Clarington to host June 18 virtual public meeting on Growth Management Study

Clarington will hold a virtual public information centre on its Growth Management Study on Thursday, June 18, 2026, starting at 6:30 p.m., according to a municipal notice posted May 29.

The study is part of Clarington’s Official Plan Review and is intended to inform how the municipality plans for future population, housing and employment growth, including estimates of land needs for homes and businesses.

Clarington said the virtual meeting will include a presentation followed by an opportunity for residents to ask questions of the project team. The municipality said background materials will be available for the public to review.

In the notice, Clarington projected its population will reach about 221,000 residents and the number of jobs will reach 70,300 by 2051.

The municipality said those projections are based on growth targets in “Envision Durham,” Durham Region’s official plan.

Clarington said the Growth Management Study will look at how population, housing and jobs are expected to grow by 2056. The study will also review local and regional trends and examine how much land is needed for homes and businesses.

The municipality said the study is expected to provide policy recommendations to help guide Clarington’s Official Plan Review and align with provincial planning direction.
