Community Sessions Announced for Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment

Lakeridge Health has announced two community visioning sessions to discuss the redevelopment of Bowmanville Hospital. The sessions will be held on October 22, 2024, in-person at Bowmanville Hospital, and on October 30, 2024, virtually via Zoom. These sessions aim to present the latest redevelopment plans and gather community feedback.

The in-person session will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the hospital's cafeteria located at 47 Liberty St S, Bowmanville. The virtual session will also run from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will be accessible through a Zoom webinar. Interested participants are required to RSVP for both sessions.

The Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment project includes plans to nearly double the hospital's size to meet the growing demands of the Durham Region, which is expected to double in population by 2041. The project will feature new ambulatory care clinics, a Haemodialysis Centre, a rooftop helipad, and Level 3 Critical Care capacity. Additionally, a new parking garage and green spaces are planned to improve accessibility and community well-being.

Lakeridge Health operates five hospitals and multiple healthcare facilities in Ontario, offering a wide range of medical services. The organization is part of the Durham Ontario Health Team and collaborates with various healthcare and government partners to provide integrated regional care.
