Constable Galipeau and K9 Koa Join Durham Police K9 Unit
Constable Marissa Galipeau and police service dog Koa have joined the K9 Unit of the Durham Regional Police Service, according to a DRPS announcement on July 25. The police service stated that the team recently completed 14 weeks of training, which included tracking, building searches, evidence recovery, and obedience.
Police service dog Koa is a two-year-old German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix, DRPS reported. According to the police, Koa was born in Spain and previously lived in Spain, Florida, and Alabama before arriving in Durham Region. DRPS noted that Galipeau and Koa will serve on A platoon and will patrol throughout Durham Region.
