Corbett Creek Waste Disposal Station in Whitby Closing for Equipment Upgrades July 1

The waste disposal station at the Corbett Creek Water Pollution Control Plant in Whitby will close temporarily starting July 1, according to a June 26 advisory from the Regional Municipality of Durham. The closure, which will remain in effect until further notice, is to allow for on-site equipment upgrades at the facility.

The shutdown impacts recreational vehicle (RV) owners and registered septage haulers who use the Corbett Creek station at 2400 Forbes Street for waste disposal, based on the Region's announcement. During the closure, the Region advises these users to access other available water pollution control plant (WPCP) sites for waste disposal.

According to Durham Region, RV holding tank dump stations are accessible at Duffin Creek WPCP (901 McKay Road, Pickering), which is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Other locations include Courtice WPCP (100 Osborne Road, Courtice), Port Darlington WPCP (93 Port Darlington Road, Bowmanville), and Uxbridge Brook WPCP (127 Main Street North, Uxbridge), all operating Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding statutory holidays.

The Region states that registered septage haulers can use disposal services at Duffin Creek WPCP, open 24/7, and at Courtice WPCP, available Monday to Friday within the listed hours, excluding statutory holidays.

No reopening date for the Corbett Creek facility has been provided by the Region of Durham.
