Darlington Nuclear Station's 30-Year License Renewed

The Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, a key facility near Clarington, Ontario, recently received an update on its operations from Ontario Power Generation (OPG). Steve Gregoris, Chief Nuclear Officer of OPG, presented details during a local government committee meeting.

Among the highlights was the renewal of the station's operating license by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. This renewal extends Darlington's operational timeline by 30 years, spanning from December 1, 2025, to November 30, 2055, facilitating ongoing power generation activities in the region.

Gregoris also discussed the Darlington New Nuclear Project, detailing plans and expected outcomes. OPG emphasized engaging with local communities as part of the development process. Gregoris described efforts to ensure that the project's progress reflects community perspectives and input.

The infrastructural updates and licensing decisions mark significant progress in Darlington's operational agenda, with further developments anticipated as projects continue.
