Darlington Station Update Presented to General Government Committee

On March 3, 2025, an update regarding the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station was presented to the General Government Committee by Steve Gregoris, who serves as the Chief Nuclear Officer at Ontario Power Generation (OPG). According to Gregoris, the station's power reactor operating license has been renewed for a period spanning 30 years, starting on December 1, 2025, and concluding on November 30, 2055.

The update also covered the station's refurbishment plans as well as the adherence to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's licensing protocol, which includes engaging with local residents. The focus during the presentation was on following regulatory compliance and ensuring safety in operations.

This session forms part of OPG's routing informative circulation on the progress and safety measures at the Darlington facility—an integral part of the local energy supply system. Further updates will be communicated as necessary.
