Detours Announced for Ajax Bus Routes 227 and 917 Due to Road Closure
Durham Region Transit will detour bus routes 227 and 917 in Ajax starting Monday, July 21, 2025, due to the closure of Dowty Road and Hunt Street between Fairall Street and Harwood Avenue.
The detour affects stops along the closed section of Dowty Road and Hunt Street. Riders who use these routes will need to adjust their travel as certain stops will not be available during this period.
According to Durham Region Transit, route 917 will detour via Station Street and Harwood Avenue. All stops on Dowty Road between Fairall Street and Hunt Street, and on Hunt Street between Dowty Road and Harwood Avenue, will not be served during the detour.
Route 227 will detour via Station Street, Harwood Avenue, and Hunt Street. Throughout the detour, all stops on Dowty Road between Fairall Street and Hunt Street will not be served. Stops on Station Street and Harwood Avenue will remain in service.
Temporary stops available during the detour include Bayly eastbound at Harwood Avenue (east of Harwood), Hunt eastbound at Monorch Avenue, and Hunt westbound at Dowty Road.
Durham Region Transit states that these changes will remain in effect until further notice.
