The pool at the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex in Bowmanville will be closed from Friday, Sept. 4 to Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, for regular maintenance and lighting upgrades, according to the Municipality of Clarington. The pool is scheduled to reopen Monday, Sept. 14, for regular programs and drop-in activities.

The closure affects swimmers who use the Diane Hamre facility for drop-in swims and other aquatic amenities in early September, while the rest of the recreation complex remains open.

The municipality said the closure will include the main pool, tot pool, slide, whirlpool, sauna and the pool change rooms.

For residents looking for alternatives during the closure, the municipality said drop-in swimming, whirlpool and sauna access will be available at the Courtice Community Complex and the Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre during scheduled drop-in hours.

Fall drop-in activities are scheduled to be viewable on Sept. 1 for programs beginning Sept. 8, the municipality said.

The municipality said maintenance work during the closure may include painting, regrouting and deep cleaning.
